Open Data Services Co-operative
Open Data Services Co-operative exists to help people publish and use open data.
We provide technologies, support, and services relating to the production, standardisation, and use of open data for social impact. Through these, we aim to make sure open data is useful, usable, and in use.
We have a particular focus on open data standards for transparency and mass collaboration, working extensively on support to publishers and users of data on aid transparency, open contracting, and beneficial ownership, amongst other topics.
We undertake research and development projects, as well as providing long-term support to initiatives that work at the intersection of data and policy.
As a worker-owned co-operative, we seek to model inclusive democratic governance in our way of working. We seek to build capacity and to provide sustainable open data support to governments, campaigners, civil society, and front-line organisations.
Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data
Much of our work on open data for transparency and accountability falls under SDG 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Working with partners, we help build the infrastructure for interoperable data on how public money is flowing in development work and to track the activities of government, public, and private development actors.
Recognising the importance of clear data standards, and open data standards processes, we are also working to capture and share learning on effective data standards processes that combine robust technical foundation with inclusive and accessible policy processes. Through training, capacity building, and mentoring we are helping groups apply open data standards across a range of SDGs.
